Bradley Domel to Receive Bobby Jones Award Nov. 7

WACO, Texas -- The Baylor Letterman's Association will present the Bobby Jones Award to former Baylor tight end Bradley Domel before the 1998 Homecoming game at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7.
Domel, who was the most valuable player in Baylor's 1997 Homecoming game vs. Texas, also will be honored at the Baylor Letterman's Association Breakfast at 7 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, in the Letterman's Room at Floyd Casey Stadium, and he will ride in the Homecoming parade which begins at 8 a.m. at the intersection of 11th and Austin in Waco. A Needville native, Domel graduated from Baylor in May 1998.
The Bobby Jones Award is given to a senior player from the previous year who provided the best leadership on and off the field in the week of preparation for the Homecoming game. The Baylor coaching staff selects the recipient.
The award was named for the Baylor quarterback who led the Bears to a 13-7 win over the University of Tennessee in the 1957 Sugar Bowl. It was established by his widow, Mrs. Rosemary Jones, after Jones' death. He was killed in a 1965 automobile-train wreck while a member of the Tennessee coaching staff.
