baylor Professor to Speak About Asian Economic Crisis

Dr. David Mungello, professor of history and Asian studies, will speak at 4 p.m. Thursday in the Cowden Room on the third floor of the Bill Daniel Student Center as part of the Council for International Education program, "All the News That's Fit to Discuss!"
His speech "China: The Current Situation" will address the economic and political issues affecting China's role as a world power in East Asia. In addition, he will focus on Japan and Hong Kong and how the recent flooding will affect the economy and political situation.
A special foreign film series is also being held in conjunction with the lecture series. The next film to be shown is "Burnt By The Sun" at 7 p.m Friday, Oct. 27, in Bennett Auditorium. The film and lecture are free and open to the public.
