Baylor to Host Texas Baptist Church Education Conference

Baylor University will host the 1998 Texas Baptist Church Weekday Education Conference July 9-11.

The conference is for adult teachers and directors wanting to make a difference in the lives of children and their families. More than 20 speakers will conduct 43 sessions on child education and enrichment.

Director's Day will be Thursday, July 9. Participants will register in Bennett Auditorium foyer at 9 a.m. Later, speakers will begin addressing this year's theme, 'Just Imagine - Molding the Future.' Some of the topics will include 'Molding the Future with Senior Adults,' 'Avoiding Conflict Traps' and 'Finding Solutions.'

Other participants will register at 8 a.m. Friday, July 10, in Waco Hall. Speakers include Dr. Randall O'Brien, author and Baylor University professor of religion, who will speak at 8:45 a.m. in Waco Hall. Author and Baptist Sunday School Board member Cindy Lumpkin will speak at 6 p.m. A general session and a movie, 'Molder of Dreams,' will conclude the Saturday sessions.

Jon Kregel - a professional soccer player, author and founder of Jon Kregel Ministries' will speak Saturday on how to prevent juvenile drug use. Following three conference sessions, the event will conclude after lunch.

Exhibitors will display a variety of products Thursday, Friday and Saturday in the Barfield Drawing Room of the Bill Daniel Student Center.

The conference is sponsored by Texas Baptist Church Weekday Education Association, the Church Ministries Department of the Baptist General Convention of Texas and Baylor University.
