Baylor to Host Three Cheerleader Camps

June 19, 1998

The National Cheerleading Association (NCA) will sponsor three cheerleading camps for high school and junior high cheerleaders on June 25-28, July 9-10 and August 6-9 on the Baylor University campus.
The first session will be a Christian cheerleading camp. The second session will be a dance camp, and the third camp will be a standard cheerleading camp.
The camps will focus on the development of personal skills, teamwork, and technical and motivational aspects of cheerleading.
On the first evening of camp, the squads will compete for a bid to nationals, which will be announced on the final day of camp. Winning squads will receive invitations to attend competitions at Disneyland, Madison Square Garden, and other locations nationwide, including Dallas. These are the largest cheerleading competitions in the country.
On the third evening of camp, All-American tryouts will be held. The girls who achieve All-American status will qualify to travel to various bowls across the United States, Ireland and Australia.
On the final day of camp, the top five teams of the week will be announced.
The costs for the cheerleading camps are $199 for overnight campers, $178 for advisers and $114 for student commuters and $52 for commuter advisers. The fees for the dance camp are $186 for overnight campers, $166 for overnight advisers, $117 for student commuters and $55 for commuter advisers. The participants will practice at the Ferrell Special Events Center.
