Mclane Carillon Series Continues at Baylor

The McLane Carillon Tenth Anniversary Recital Series will present its third event Sunday with a performance by carillonneur Lynnette Geary of Waco. Her recital will begin at 7 p.m. in the Pat Neff Hall Tower on the Baylor University campus.
Geary, who studies with Baylor University Carillonneur Dr. Herbert Colvin, serves the university as administrative assistant for the department of history. A member of the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America, she was featured last year in the Massachusetts Summer Carillon Series, with appearances in Cohasset, Norwood and Gloucester. From 1981 to 1988, she was carillonneur at St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Waco.
Her program will open and close with arrangements by Colvin of the doxology and "That Good Old Baylor Line." Johan Franco's "Toccata No. 10," Joseph-Hector Fiocco's "Andante," three movements from "Serenade for Carillon" by Ronald Barnes, and an arrangement by Albert Gerken of the "Praeludium" from Johann Sebastian Bach's Suite No. 1 for Unaccompanied Cello will also be featured. Geary also will present a set of three hymns--Roy Hamlin Johnson's "Picardy" and Beverly Buchanan's settings of "Hyfrydol" and "Lobe den Herren."
A gift of the Drayton McLane family and the McLane Company Inc., of Temple, the McLane Carillon was inaugurated on Nov. 4, 1988, during Baylor's Homecoming festivities. It is one of fewer than 200 carillons on the North American continent with a range of four octaves or more. Future programs in the McLane Carillon Tenth Anniversary Recital Series will be presented each month (except August) through Nov. 6. Performers will include Colvin, Judson Maynard, George Gregory and Loyd Lott.
This recital is free of charge and open to the public. Weather permitting, listeners are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets, and printed programs will be distributed on Founders Mall in front of Pat Neff Hall.
