WACO, Texas (Aug. 31, 2021) – Baylor University alumni and fans around the world are invited to showcase their passion and spirit for Baylor collectively by wearing green and gold to celebrate national College Colors Day on Friday, Sept. 3.

College Colors Day also celebrates a new season of intercollegiate athletics and the first football weekend for many universities. Baylor will kick off the 2021 football season the following day, Saturday, Sept. 4, at Texas State University in San Marcos. The team’s home opener is the following Saturday, Sept. 11, as the Bears will face Texas Southern at McLane Stadium.

This year's College Colors Day theme, "That Feeling When," pushes the celebration to social media where Baylor fans can create and share their custom spirit graphic and show off their green and gold apparel. Hundreds of colleges and universities across the country are expected to join in the celebration of a new academic year and a new season of intercollegiate athletics.

For Baylor students, faculty and staff, the Friday celebration kicks off another tradition that has grown popular among the campus community – even expanding outside the University grounds and into the offices and workplaces of our thousands of passionate alumni: Spirit Friday.

“As we begin another season of intercollegiate athletics, it is a great time to be a Baylor Bear,” said Jason Cook, vice president for marketing and communications and chief marketing officer at Baylor. “With the excitement of a new season and new faces across our campus, I’m thrilled to support College Colors Day by wearing the Green and Gold. I encourage our campus community, alumni and fans everywhere to show your pride and support for Baylor by flinging your Green and Gold afar in visible and vocal support of our University. Wherever you are and wherever you go, wear your best Baylor apparel on College Colors Day and each Friday that follows throughout the year.”

Created by collegiate licensing leader CLC and now in its 17th year, College Colors Day gives college fans across the country a distinct day to wear apparel and merchandise that feature the school colors of their favorite college or university while joining in the nationwide celebration by sharing their pride on social media using the hashtag #CollegeColorsDay.

New apparel and merchandise is added throughout the year to the Baylor Bookstore and official online store – including 2021 NCAA National Championship gear for the men’s basketball team. Stop by the campus bookstore location or visit baylorbears.com/shop to stock up on all your apparel and merchandise needs.
