WACO, Texas (Feb. 28, 2020) – This coming week, Baylor University will host multiple guest speakers and performances in various disciplines, including arts and sciences, music, religion, entrepreneurship and history. The department of history and Baylor Law School will commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Boston Massacre with a staged performance of the trials that occurred after the historic event.

SUNDAY, March 1

Concert Band - The Concert Band, conducted by Steve Dailey, M.M., assistant director of bands, will perform at 3 p.m. in Jones Concert Hall in the Glennis McCrary Music Building, 110 Baylor Ave. The concert is free and open to the public. MONDAY, March 2

Chapel Highlights - Laura Harbert, Ph.D., affiliate professor of clinical psychology at Fuller Seminary, will speak during Chapel at 9:05, 10:10 and 11:15 a.m. in Waco Hall, 624 Speight Ave. Harbert helps people increase their capacity for intimacy, helps individuals understand themselves and helps them experience more freedom and joy in their personal and professional lives. Movie Mondays - Movie Mondays will host a screening of “Dr. Strangelove,” a comedic film that satirizes the Cold War fears of a nuclear conflict between the Soviet Union and the United States. Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble - The Symphonic Band, conducted by Isaiah Odajima, D.M.A., associate professor of ensembles, and the Wind ensemble, directed by J. TUESDAY, March 3

World Cinema Series The department of modern languages and cultures will show a screening of “Beanpole,” a Russian film set in 1945 Leningrad that tells the story of Iya, a young woman returning from World War II with a 3-year-old child and her friend Masha. Confessions of an Entrepreneur: Lisa Monroe - The Hankamer School of Business will host Lisa Monroe, owner and vice president of real estate firm Triliji Group, as part of their lunchtime guest-speaker series, Confessions of an Entrepreneur. Boston Massacre Trials Performance - To commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Boston Massacre, the department of history and Baylor Law School will present a staged performance of the trials following the historic event. Baylor vs. The Japanese National Debate Team - The Glenn R. Capp Debate Forum will host a public debate featuring the Baylor University Debate Team and the Japanese National Debate Team. The topic of the debate is whether the United States should significantly reduce its military presence in Japan. The debate will begin at 7 p.m. in Room 101 of Castellaw Communications Center, 219 Baylor Ave. The debate is free and open to the public.
