Chaplain’s Spring Bible Study for Faculty and Staff Features Baylor Scholars, Biblical Texts Connected with Themes, Stories of Lenten Season
The chapel inside Baylor University's Bobo Spiritual Life Center displays a beautiful cross over a window that overlooks the greenery of campus. Dedicated in 1982, the Bobo is open to the Baylor community during the school day as a place to gather between classes, with the chapel serving as a sacred space to rest and refocus.

WACO, Texas (Feb. 18, 2020) – During the season of Lent, the Office of the Chaplain will continue its “Texts and Teachers” Bible study that will feature Baylor University scholars teaching on various biblical texts that connect with the themes and stories of the Lenten season.
The Bible study will begin each Tuesday at 12:15 p.m. in the Bobo Spiritual Life Center, with a light lunch following by the study from approximately from 12:30 to 1 p.m.
The Baylor Scholars leading the weekly Bible study and the texts they will use are:
- Feb. 25, 2020: Mark 10:32-45; Philippians 2:1-11 – Todd Still, Ph.D., The Charles J. and Eleanor McLerran DeLancey Dean and The William M. Hinson Professor of Christian Scriptures at Truett Seminary
- March 3, 2020: Luke 11:31-35 – Andrew Arterbury, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Christian Scriptures, Truett Seminary
- March 17, 2020: Psalm 22 – W.H. “Bill” Bellinger Jr., Ph.D., chair of the Department of Religion, The W. Marshall and Lulie Craig Chairholder in Bible, Professor of Hebrew Bible/Old Testament
- March 24, 2020: Mark 8:22-26 – Joel Weaver, Ph.D., senior lecturer in Christian Scriptures (Greek and biblical interpretation), Truett Seminary
- March 31, 2020: Luke 19:1-10 – Beverly Roberts Gaventa, Ph.D., Distinguished Professor of New Testament
- April 7, 2020: Mark 12:41-44 – Rosalie Beck, Ph.D., Associate Professor Emeritus of Religion
