Baylor University’s test of its emergency communications systems is underway.

WACO, Texas (Feb. 6, 2020) – Baylor University will conduct a regular test of the multi-tiered Baylor Alert emergency communications systems from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7.

Baylor Alert is used to alert the campus community of a significant emergency or threat on or near campus. During the testing period, all contacts will receive “test” email and text messages. Emails will be sent from baylor@getrave.com and text messages from one of the following short codes: 226787, 67283, 78015 and 81437.

In addition, Baylor will test its outdoor and indoor notification systems with a series of test tones and voice announcements on outdoor and indoor loudspeakers, official University social media channels (Twitter: @BaylorAlert and @Baylor on Twitter, Facebook at baylor.edu/facebook) and website communications (www.baylor.edu) and the Baylor Information Line at 254-710-4411.

The Baylor Alert emergency communications systems are used to share important information and instructions for students, faculty, staff and visitors for all types of hazards, from severe weather to other dangerous situations.

How to Sign Up for Baylor Alert

Baylor students, faculty and staff may log in to BearWeb to enter/update their Baylor Alert contact information. Instructions are available here. Parents can be added as an “alternate Baylor Alert contact” by their student.

In addition, parents, visitors, contractors and other individuals can opt-in to receive Baylor Alert text messages by using one of following options:

• Short-term visitors (1-3 days) can text Baylor1845 to 226787. *Note, subscriptions automatically expire after 3 days.
• Long term visitors (weeks, months, semester, etc.) can text Baylor76798 to 226787. *Note, subscriptions do not automatically expire. Users need to opt-out to stop receiving notifications.
