Trio Con Brio to Perform at Baylor March 5

Trio Con Brio, a highly regarded chamber music group consisting of clarinet, cello, and piano, will present a concert at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 5, in Roxy Grove Hall on the Baylor University campus.
The trio's members are on the faculty of Florida State University and have performed together since 1993. They are also principal players with the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra. Trio Con Brio consists of clarinetist Frank Kowalsky, cellist Lubomir Georgiev and pianist Carolyn Bridger.
The program will open with French composer Louise Farrenc's "Trio in B-flat Major." Farrenc was the wife of a celebrated flutist, Aristide Farrenc. She had a very successful career as a pianist and composer. Her Trio for Clarinet, Cello, and Piano (Opus 44) dates from the year 1861.
Concluding the concert will be two staples of the clarinet chamber music repertoire -- the Trio in A Minor of Johannes Brahms and the "Trio Pathétique" of the great 19th-century Russian composer Mikhail Glinka.
A composition by Trio Con Brio's Bulgarian-born cellist, Lubomir Georgiev, will also be played. His "Dialogues I," scored for clarinet and cello, was written in 1985. It is in seven short movements.
