WACO, Texas (Oct. 31, 2019) — This week, Baylor University will host guest speakers across multiple academic disciplines from art history to mathematics, as well as film screenings and concerts. Baylor also will host multiple student events, such as Asian Fest and Premiere, an entire day of events for prospective students and student productions including Baylor Theatre’s opening performance of “Antigone.”

Chapel Highlights – Korean Children’s Choir will perform during Chapel at 9:05, 10:10 and 11:15 a.m. in Waco Hall, 624 Speight Ave. For more information, visit the Spiritual Life website.
Movie Mondays at the Hippodrome – Movie Mondays presented by Baylor’s Union Board will continue this week with a showing of “Zero Weeks,” a documentary by director Ky Dickens on the struggles of taking care of family with little to no paid time off. The screening will be at 7 p.m. in the Waco Hippodrome, 724 Austin Ave. Tickets are free and can be picked up at the Waco Hippodrome Box Office, the Bill Daniel Student Center ticket office or online.

TUESDAY, Nov. 5

2019 Dale P. Jones Business Ethics Keynote – The Dale P. Jones Business Ethics Forum will feature keynote speaker R. Dean Graves, managing director with Alvarez & Marsal Disputes and Investigations, on the topic of “Ethical Breakdown” from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m. in Foster 250 at the Paul L. A Cappella Choir and Chamber Singers – The Baylor University A Cappella Choir and Chamber Singers will perform a program called “We Remember Them” at 7:30 p.m. in Jones Concert Hall in the Glennis McCrary Music Building, 110 Baylor Ave. Both ensembles are conducted by Brian A. Schmidt, D.M.A., associate professor of choral music. In this concert, choral music from the height of the Renaissance will be woven with modern music, creating an atmosphere of serenity and peace for listeners. Art and Art History Lecture – Baylor’s department of art and art history will host Jennifer Wester, Ph.D., assistant professor of art at Notre Dame of Maryland University, who will present two lectures in the Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Center, 60 Baylor Ave. The first lecture is “Putting their Feet Back on the Ground: Nouveau Réalisme and the Return to Reality” at 9:30 a.m. in Seminar Room 158 and the second lecture “Whose Art? World Cinema Series – The department of modern languages and cultures will host its 13th annual World Cinema Series with “The Wall,” a film in German with English subtitles. Environmental Science Seminar – The department of environmental science will host David R. Jackson, Extension Educator of Renewable Natural Resources at Penn State, who will provide an overview of the water environment industry, career opportunities and critical issues facing the water environment industry within the next century. Business Ethics Forum Panel – The Dale P. Fall Premiere – Baylor will welcome nearly 8,000 prospective students and their guests for Premiere, an eventful day for high school juniors, seniors and transfer students to explore the campus, experience college life and interact with Baylor’s faculty and staff.
