Welsh Scholar To Discuss Old Testament Ethics Nov. 18

Dr. Eryl W. Davies from the University of Wales, Bangor, will lecture on Old Testament ethics from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, in Miller Chapel in the Tidwell Bible Building on the Baylor University campus. The lecture, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the department of religion and the University Lecturers Committee.
Davies is a Reader in the department of theology and religious studies at the University of Wales. His main research areas are Old Testament ethics and feminist and ideological criticism of the Old Testament. He is the author of The Dissenting Reader: Feminist Approaches to the Hebrew Bible, published in 2003, and Numbers: Based on the Revised Standard Version, published in 1995.
He was awarded a Von Holbodt Fellowship to study at the University of Heidelberg in 1983-84, and a Von Holbodt research grant to study at the University of Tnbingen in 1999 and at the University of Heidelberg in 2001.
