Baylor Grad Scott James To Speak In Chapel Nov. 11

Baylor graduate Scott James will speak to Baylor University students at Chapel at 10 and 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, in Waco Hall.
After James graduated from Baylor in 1994, he spent several years working with General Electric and other multimedia companies. He then went back to school and received an MBA from Notre Dame.
After Notre Dame, James went to work for software company Visio, which was later acquired by Microsoft. Last year he left Microsoft to work for Pura Vida coffee because he "wanted to do something more in line with my personal mission statement, which is simply 'help others.'"
According to its website, the mission of Pura Vida is to "create good by using capitalism to empower producers, motivate consumers, inspire business leaders, and ultimately serve the poor." Founded by two Harvard business school graduates, Pura Vida Coffee sells "Fair Trade, organic coffee throughout the United States and uses all of its resources for charitable purposes."
James' Chapel message will focus on how business can be used to serve the poor and how his faith in Christ drives that. James hopes "students leave Chapel feeling that they, too, can make a difference in this world."
