Baylor University Art Department Sponsors Artist Workshop

Baylor University's department of art and the University Lecturers Committee will host a Visiting Ceramic Artist Workshop from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, in room 168 of the Lewis Art Building.
The workshop will feature Richard Aerni, a nationally-recognized ceramic artist from New York. His workshop will include demonstrations and a slide presentation in the morning and demonstrations and a talk about his work in the afternoon. The workshop is free and open to the public.
Although he has had no formal training in ceramics, Aerni has made his living for more than 20 years selling his unique work. He took a night class at a pottery studio which sparked his interest in ceramics and ultimately began his career as a potter. Aerni works from his studio in New York specializing in ash glazes and single firing.
Aerni's ceramic vessels are currently on exhibit in the University Art Gallery in the Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Center. The exhibit is open for public viewing between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon until 5 p.m. Saturday until Nov. 24. The hours resume Nov. 30 until Dec. 4.
