WACO, Texas (Sept. 9, 2019) – Baylor University is ranked No. 79 among National Universities – with several programs and opportunities for undergraduates highly rated – in the latest rankings for 2020 released today by U.S. News & World Report. In addition, Baylor was among the top universities for student engagement as measured by the Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education College Ranking.

For the eighth straight year, Baylor was the second highest-ranked university in the Big 12 and among the top five overall in Texas in the U.S. News rankings, behind only Rice (No. 17), the University of Texas at Austin (No. 48), Southern Methodist University (No. 64) and Texas A&M University (No. 70) and ahead of Texas Christian University (No. 97), the University of Texas at Dallas (No. 147), the University of Houston (No. 185), Texas Tech University (No. 218), Dallas Baptist University and the University of North Texas (tied at No. 221) and University of Texas at Arlington (No. 293-381).

In the WSJ/THE College Ranking that measures student success and learning, Baylor was ranked No. 4 nationally among universities that create a high level of student engagement, both in the classroom and among students. The student engagement score measures how well an institution manages to inform, inspire and challenge students.

The engagement ranking includes the results of the Times Higher Education U.S. Student Survey of more than 170,000 current college and university students, which examined students’ engagement with their studies, interaction with their professors and satisfaction with their experience.
