Methodist Bishop To Speak At McGee Lecture Nov. 3
Dr. William H. Willimon, Presiding Bishop of the North Alabama Annual Conference, will serve as featured speaker at the Daniel B. McGee Endowed Lecture in Religious Studies. Willimon's lecture, "Trinitarian Education: The Challenge of Christian Higher Education," will begin at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, in Miller Chapel on the Baylor University campus and is free and open to the public.
Willimon, who formerly served as Dean of Duke University Chapel, has pastored churches in Georgia and South Carolina. He is the author of 50 books, including Sighing for Eden, What's Right with the Church and Worship as Pastoral Care, which was selected as one of the 10 most useful books for pastors in 1979 by the Academy of the Parish Clergy. His articles have appeared in such publications as The Christian Ministry, Quarterly Review, Liturgy, Worship and Christianity Today.
In 1992, Willimon was named the first distinguished alumnus of Yale Divinity School, and in February 1996, he was one of 12 individuals Baylor named as the most effective preachers in the English-speaking world, according to a worldwide survey.
This is the second lecture in the Daniel B. McGee Endowed Lectures in Religious Studies series established through the generosity of Ambassador and Mrs. Lyndon L. Olson Jr.
