WACO, Texas (Aug. 15, 2019) — Baylor University’s summer graduating class of 2019 will walk the stage during Commencement ceremonies at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at the Ferrell Center, 1900 S. University Parks Drive.

This year’s summer commencement will honor more than 450 graduates from 10 of Baylor’s 12 colleges and schools. Forty-two students will received their doctoral degrees.

Baylor President Linda Livingstone, Ph.D., will confer diplomas upon the graduates, assisted by Nancy Brickhouse, Ph.D., vice president and provost. Margaret E. Baier, Ph.D., assistant professor of family and consumer sciences from 2002-2014, will serve as ceremonial Bearer of the Mace.

Baylor will live stream the ceremony on the Commencement website.

Important Traffic Information

A six-mile stretch of Interstate 35 through Waco from North Loop 340 to 12th Street is currently under construction. Graduates and their families are encouraged to give themselves extra travel time and be prepared for possible traffic delays while approaching campus.

University Parks Drive (Exit 335A) is open, but University Parks Drive is temporarily reduced to one eastbound lane until Dutton Avenue. Other routes include taking south Exit 335C Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. to LaSalle Avenue and north Exit 334A to 17th/18th Streets to LaSalle Avenue, both of which intersect University Parks Drive. All guests should enter the Ferrell Center parking lot from University Parks Drive.

Parking for handicapped or physically impaired individuals is accessible from the Daughtrey Street entrance off University Parks Drive. A circular drive at the main entrance to Ferrell Center is available for people wishing to drop off guests.

In addition, a clear bag policy will be in place for the ceremony. All bags will be checked and all graduates, families and guests will access the Ferrell Center via walk-through metal detectors.
