Award-Winning Reporter Named Media Relations Director
WACO, Texas -- Baylor University has named Lori W. Scott-Fogleman, award-winning broadcast journalist and co-anchor of the 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts at KWTX-TV in Waco, as director of media relations.
"We are pleased to have a well-respected journalist like Lori Scott-Fogleman joining the public relations staff to direct Baylor's media relations program," said Larry D. Brumley, associate vice president for communications. "She brings to this important position the kind of professional skills and interest in education that will help us communicate Baylor's mission and accomplishments in a rapidly changing media environment."
Fogleman will be responsible for establishing and cultivating contacts with media representatives to promote Baylor and its faculty, students, staff and programs. She will supervise a four-person media relations staff.
"I am very excited about this opportunity at Baylor University," Fogleman said. "It was not an easy decision to make because of my long association with KWTX Broadcasting, but I believe my years at KWTX have prepared me to take my career in a new direction. I look forward to working with Baylor."
A native of Marlin, Fogleman graduated magna cum laude from Stephen F. Austin State University with a bachelor's degree in radio/television communications with a concentration in broadcast journalism. She has worked at KWTX since 1987, first serving as assistant program director and music director for its FM radio station. In 1989, she began working as education reporter and co-anchor of newscasts for the television station where she created the award-winning "Head of the Class" and "Golden Apple" series.
Fogleman was awarded the Association of Texas Professional Educators Hammett Media Award for Best Education Reporting on Television in 1996, and in 1997 she won the Associated Press Award for Best Series for her "Taking the TAAS" report. Additionally, she served as a United Way Community Hero Olympic Torchrunner in 1996, and in 1997 she was named a Texas Girl Scout Woman of Distinction.

The Baylor Alumni Association named Fogleman an "Alumni by Choice" in 1996, and she currently serves on the Baylor Women's Athletic Council.
An active community volunteer, Fogleman sits on the Board of Directors for Keep Waco Beautiful Inc., Family Counseling and Children's Services, and the Advocacy Center for Crime Victims and Children. She is an ex-officio for the Waco Humane Society Animal Shelter.
