Faculty Recital for Bassoon and Horn

February 3, 1998

Two faculty members in the Baylor University School of Music, bassoonist Kenton Moore and hornist Margaret Robinson, will present a recital at 8 p.m. Friday in Roxy Grove Hall.
Assisting on the program will be three other members of the Baylor music faculty: lecturer in piano Brian Mark, professor of clarinet Richard Shanley, and professor of percussion instruments Larry Vanlandingham. Also taking part will be Moore's wife, flutist Jeannette Hirasawa Moore, and percussionist Bradley Bryant, a senior music major from Austin.
Kenton Moore, who serves as assistant professor of bassoon, joined the Baylor music faculty in 1995. He holds a master's degree from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y., and a bachelor's degree and doctorate from Temple University in Philadelphia.
Assistant professor of horn Margaret Robinson also came to Baylor in 1995. She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin and her master's degree from Indiana University.
The recital will open with "Ashfall," a contemporary piece by Mark Schultz, and it will close with another 20th-century work, "Sonatine" by Pierre Gabaye.
In between the modern compositions will be a late-Romantic work by Paul Jeanjean, his "Prelude and Scherzo," and a piece from the Classical period, Frédéric Duvernoy's "Sonata No. 2 for Horn and Non-Figured Bass."
This event is free of charge and open to the public. For more information, call the Baylor School of Music at 710-3991.
