Black Heritage Week Scheduled for Feb. 7-14

Black Heritage Week will be celebrated at Baylor University with events during the week of Feb. 7-14. Events are planned around the theme of "Crossing the Bridge of Diversity, to Enter the World of Unity."
The week's events will include a marketplace from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, in the Barfield Drawing Room of the Bill Daniel Student Center. The market will showcase food, games, arts and crafts. Kappa Alpha Psi will present a step show at 7 p.m. Saturday in Waco Hall. Tickets are on sale in the ticket office of the Bill Daniel Student Center for $10 in advance. They will be sold at the door for $12.
A special church service will be held at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, at Carver Park Baptist Church, located at 1701 Turner Street, and a forum to discuss social, political and cultural issues will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, in the Barfield Drawing Room.
Baylor students will be featured in a lip-sync and talent show at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, in the Barfield Drawing Room. Tickets are $2 for members of the Association of Black Students and $3 for non-members. A book display emphasizing African-American literature will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 11, in the Bill Daniel Student Center.
The annual banquet will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, on the fifth floor of the Hankamer School of Business Cashion Academic Center. Special entertainment will be provided by James Chapmyn. The Student Union will present the movie "The Ghost of Mississippi" at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, in Bennett Auditorium on the Baylor campus.
Heavenly Voices will host their annual Gospel Fest at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, in Waco Hall. Tickets will be sold at the door for $5.
