WACO, Texas (April 18, 2019) – This week, Baylor University will host a movie screening, several concerts and lectures in a variety of academic disciplines. Classes will not be held Monday, April 22, in observance of Easter.

TUESDAY, April 23

Cherry Award Lecture – Patrick G. Harran, Ph.D., professor and Cram Chair in Organic Chemistry at the University of California at Los Angeles, will speak at the inaugural Robert Foster Cherry Lecture at 3:30 p.m. in Room B.110 of the Baylor Sciences Building, 101 Bagby Ave. A reception will precede the lecture on the E Wing second floor landing of the BSB. World Cinema Series – Baylor’s department of modern languages and cultures will screen the Japanese film “Tokyo Story” for this week’s World Cinema Series at 6 p.m. in Bennett Auditorium in the Draper Academic Building, 1420 S. Black Glasses Film Festival – The 20th annual Black Glasses Film Festival will be held at the Waco Hippodrome in downtown Waco. The event – started by students in 1999 and sponsored by the department of film and digital media – is dedicated to exhibiting the best student work in filmmaking and screenwriting.
