On the national holiday to "kick up your feet," put on a "blue collar and save a dollar" at the Mayborn Museum Complex, which will be open on Labor Day.
When Mom and Dad are off work and the kids are out of school, take a day to come Engage ~ Explore ~ Enjoy! at the Mayborn Museum Complex. Walk across the mammoth site exhibit, trek through a limestone cave and explore a circa-1900 village. View a pre-historic pliosaur dating back some 75 million years. See a giant sea turtle that once swam over central Texas, and discover the critters that have inhabited the White Rock Escarpment and the blackland Prairie.
But don't stop there! Kids and adults of all ages can enjoy 16 themed discovery rooms. Play a tune on a giant floor piano, forecast the weather in our TV studio, and learn about what happens to your trash.
If that's not enough, visit Hissy the snake, Lilly the tarantula and our turtles Franklin, Myrtle and Freddy. A starfish, clownfish and anemone also are among the menagerie of charming animals that guests enjoy.
Practice different forms of communication or hide in a tipi in our Native American Room. Take a trip around the globe in the People of the World Room or a trip back in time in the Pioneer Room.
Make a day of it with lunch in the Discovery Café. Don't forget to take home a souvenir! Visit the Mayborn Museum Store which features fascinating and unusual gifts all sure to serve as a reminder of the museum. Make your day off a day out at the Mayborn Museum Complex at Baylor University.
