Balloon Glow To Feature Free Concert By Steven Curtis Chapman
Award-winning singer/songwriter Steven Curtis Chapman will perform during the fourth annual Balloon Glow and Concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at Baylor University's Floyd Casey Stadium in Waco. This year's event, which is free and open to the public, will be held in conjunction with the Curves Balloon Classic Sept. 17-19 in the skies over Central Texas.
Last year's Balloon Glow and Concert, featuring Sonicflood and Point of Grace, drew more than 20,000 fans for an evening of family-friendly entertainment. Organizers plan to have more than 30,000 free seats available for the Sept. 18 Chapman concert, including nearly 7,000 seat in a special section for college and youth groups. The event also will feature a laser show and the always popular hot air balloon glow.
This year's theme for the Balloon Glow and Concert is "All Things New," which coincides with the release of Chapman's 14th album for Sparrow Records, "All Things New," on Sept. 21. Since 1987, Chapman has sold more than nine million records and recorded 41 No. 1 radio hits. He has received four consecutive GRAMMY awards, an American Music Award and 47 Dove Awards, more than any other artist to date. Chapman and his wife, Mary Beth, are the parents of six children, including their eldest daughter, Emily, who is a Baylor freshman.
