WACO, Texas (Sept. 7, 2018)— This week, Baylor University will host lectures on the Mayborn Museum's Titanic exhibit and in several disciplines, including chemistry, environmental science, psychology and music, in addition to film screenings at the Mayborn Museum Complex and Marrs McLean Science Building and music and theater performances.

MONDAY, Sept. 10

Movie Mondays - Movie Mondays continue with the screening of “Backpack Full of Cash,” a documentary that explores the growing privatization of public schools and the impact on America’s most vulnerable children. The screening will be at 6 p.m. at the Mayborn SBC Theater, 1300 S. University Parks Drive, followed by an expert panel of education leaders who will discuss the film and how the issues explored in it apply to Waco-area schools. Free tickets can be picked up at the Bill Daniel Student Center ticket office or online.

Music Career Development Lecture - Travis Baird, a performance coach and musician health expert, will present his lecture, “Managing a Portfolio Career: Getting Organized, Setting Priorities and Achieving Goals.” The lecture will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and at 7:30 to 9 p.m. at Meadows Recital Hall in the Glennis McCrary Music Building. TUESDAY, Sept. 11

World Cinema Series - The department of modern languages and cultures will continue its World Cinema Series with “Goethe! (Young Goethe in Love).” The film is in German and shown with English subtitles. The screening will be held at 6 p.m. at Bennett Auditorium in the Draper Academic Building. Backpack Full of Cash Movie Panel Discussion - An additional screening of the documentary “Backpack Full of Cash” will be shown at 5:30 p.m. in Packard Auditorium, Room 101, of the Marrs McLean Science Building. A discussion will follow the screening about the issues in the film and their impact on educators and pre-K-12 students. Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition Lecture - Mark Lach, designer of “Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition” and vice president of special projects and creative director of Premier Exhibitions, will present “From Wreck Site to Exhibition— My Creative Journey” from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Mayborn Museum Complex, 1300 S. University Parks Drive. Lach will discuss his perspective of the wreck site and his creative thoughts on how he shares passenger stories and artifacts inside each exhibition location. Boundary Breaking Women’s Panel: Redefining Womanhood - This panel discussion on “Redefining Womanhood” will celebrate women’s achievements by highlighting 10 women and the ways their boundary-breaking efforts redefined womanhood. Dear Edwina - Baylor Theater is presenting Dear Edwina, a heartwarming musical about the highs and lows of growing up, at 7:30 p.m. in the Jones Theatre in Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Center. Reclaiming Joy: Presentation and Book Signing - Baylor alumna and former University Regent Ella Wall Prichard, author of "Reclaiming Joy," will launch her new book with a lecture and book signing.
