Baylor Golden Wave Alumni Band to Perform Nov. 22

November 19, 1997

The Baylor University Golden Wave Alumni Band will perform during halftime of the Baylor-Oklahoma State football game at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at Floyd Casey Stadium.
This will be the 12th annual performance by the Golden Wave Alumni Band, which was chartered in 1986. About 125 former band members are expected to participate.
Events this year begin with registration and a continental breakfast at 9 a.m., rehearsal at 10 a.m., followed by a business meeting at 11 a.m. and lunch at noon.
Alumni from Arkansas, Tennessee, Kansas, Louisiana, New Mexico and numerous cities from Texas have registered. The Class of 1938, represented by Marion Hudson, will be the earliest class year to participate. Other alumni from the classes of 1940 through 1990 will be involved in this year's entertainment.
Since the first Alumni Band in 1986, there has been an Honorary Director chosen to assist the Alumni Band. However, in honor of the 50th Anniversary of the beginning of Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma, two national band fraternities, the founding members of those organizations will be honored during the half-time performance. The president of the Alumni Band this year is Jonathan Edward Smith from Mesquite, a 1990 graduate of Baylor University.
