Baylor to Observe Aids Awareness Week Nov. 17-21

The Baylor University Office of Health Education and Wellness will sponsor AIDS Awareness Week Nov. 17-21 with several speakers and events scheduled.
LaGena Lookabill Green will be the focus speaker for the week. She is a former Hawaiian Tropic model who contracted the AIDS virus. Since her diagnosis, she has dedicated her life to AIDS education and prevention.
Green will speak at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 17, in Chapel-Forum at Waco Hall on "Unshakable Faith Through Physical, Spiritual and Emotional Diversity." At noon, Green will speak again during a brown-bag lunch in the Barfield Drawing Room of the Bill Daniel Student Center. This discussion is titled "A Change of Face."
A Christmas tree will also be displayed in the lounge of the Student Center. From Monday through Wednesday, students will be allowed to write down their feelings about AIDS or write a dedication to people with AIDS. These expressions will be hung on the tree as a reminder of AIDS, and AIDS ribbon cards will be available at the display.
In addition, members of the Baylor Peer Educators will conduct presentations throughout the week in various classes on campus.
