English Department to Host Young Scholar's Symposium Nov. 18

The Young Scholar's Symposium, a contest for graduate students who submit papers for publication, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, in Room 106 of the Carroll Science Building at Baylor University.
Student papers this year cover English, American and continental literature.
In the past, papers have been submitted on Shakespeare's "Henry IV Part I," Tony Morrison's "Beloved" or medieval literature such as works by Chaucer. Papers can be 8-10 pages in length. After the paper is accepted, students will have 20 minutes to present their paper.
Graduate faculty will evaluate submissions and a graduate committee will determine the outstanding paper. There is a $200 prize for the outstanding paper, named in honor of Dr. Clement T. Goode, a retired emeritus professor of English.
Admission is free and open to the public.
