WACO, Texas (April 13, 2018) – This week, Baylor University will host a variety of concerts, the annual “Browning Day” celebration and lectures in research, environmental science and music.

SUNDAY, April 15
Chamber Singers Concert − The Baylor University Chamber Singers will present their annual spring concert at 3 p.m. in Jones Concert Hall, in Glennis McCrary Music Building, 110 Baylor Ave. This chamber choir of mixed voices will be led by Brian A. Schmidt, associate professor of choral music in Baylor University’s School of Music. Jillian Gardner, a graduate student in the Artist Diploma program at Baylor, will serve as the accompanist. WEDNESDAY, April 18
Chapel Highlights − Neal Jeffrey, M.Div., associate pastor of pastoral and preaching ministries at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas, will speak during Chapel services at 9:05, 10:10 and 11:15 a.m. in Waco Hall, 624 Speight Ave. Jeffrey was an All-American quarterback during his time as a student at Baylor University. Environmental Health Science (EHS) Seminar − Kristy Murray, D.V.M., Ph.D., associate professor, associate vice chair for research and assistant dean for faculty and academic development at Baylor College of Medicine, will speak at a seminar at 4 p.m. in Room A.108 of Baylor Sciences Building, 101 Bagby Ave. The event is presented by Baylor’s environmental science program. THURSDAY, April 19
Lyceum Series − Baylor School of Music will host Ola Gjeilo, Norwegian composer at the Juilliard School in New York City, for a Lyceum series residency. Gjeilo will partake in several activities at Baylor University, all of which are free and open to the public. Special Research Lecture − Baylor University will host Christopher P. Long, Ph.D., dean of the College of Arts & Letters at Michigan State University, professor of philosophy, co-founder of Public Philosophy Journal and host of Digital Dialogue Podcast for a special research discussion. Jazz Ensemble Concert − Baylor School of Music will present its Jazz Ensemble concert at 7:30 p.m. in Jones Concert Hall, at 110 Baylor Ave. Alex Parker, senior lecturer in jazz studies and director of the Wayne Fisher Jazz Program at Baylor University, will lead his group of 19 talented jazz musicians. Sim Flora, Ph.D., jazz trombone player and professor emeritus at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas., will serve as the guest trombonist. This event is free and open to the public. BFA Exhibition − The Baylor University graduating fine arts students will showcase their work in the Martin Museum of Art, Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Building, 60 Baylor Ave. The exhibit will open on April 19, with a reception from 5:30-7p.m., and remain open until April 25. CASPER Lecture − Baylor University’s Center for Astrophysics, Space Physics and Engineering Research (CASPER) will host a public lecture featuring Anzhong Wang, Ph.D., professor in Baylor University’s department of physics. Wang will present his lecture, “Pre-inflationary Dynamics in Loop Quantum Cosmology,” at 2:30 p.m. in Baylor Research & Innovation Collaborative (BRIC), Room 3160, 100 Research Parkway. Browning Day − Armstrong Browning Library and Museum will host its annual “Browning Day” from 3-5 p.m. in The Hankamer Treasure Room of the Armstrong Browning Library, 710 Speight Ave. A reception will be held in the Foyer of Meditation before the music and lecture presentation. The Browning Day lecture, "Such Very Fierce Radicals: The Brownings and Working-Class Culture," will be presented by Kirstie Blair, Ph.D., professor and head of the School of Humanities at the University of Strathclyde, Scotland. President’s Concert − Baylor School of Music will host the President’s Concert at 7:30 p.m. in Jones Concert Hall in Glennis McCrary Music Building, 110 Baylor Ave. The concert will feature J. Eric Wilson, Ph.D., director of bands at Baylor University, conducting the Wind Ensemble in a program for brass, winds and percussion. Green and Gold Game Day − Baylor University will host the Green and Gold football game at noon in McLane Stadium, 1001 S.
