Baylor Woodwind Quintet to Perform Oct. 20

Five members of the Baylor School of Music's woodwind faculty will perform a concert at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 20, in Roxy Grove Hall.
The Baylor Woodwind Quintet, is comprised of Helen Ann Shanley, associate professor of flute; Doris DeLoach, professor of oboe; Richard Shanley, professor of clarinet; Kenton Moore, assistant professor of bassoon; and Margaret Robinson, assistant professor of horn.
Their concert will open with the Quintet in G Major, Op. 88, No. 3, by Bohemian composer Anton Reicha (1770-1836), a contemporary and friend of Ludwig van Beethoven.
Also on the program will be compositions by two Frenchmen-the Scherzo, Op. 48, of Eugène Bozza (1905-1991), and La Cheminée du Roi René by Darius Milhaud (1892-1974). The Milhaud work, dating from 1939, is in seven programmatic movements.
Concluding the concert will be the Woodwind Quintet of Argentine-American composer Lalo Schifrin (best known for his memorable theme to the television series "Mission Impossible"). This quintet, written in 1987, is subtitled "La Nouvelle Orléans."
