WACO, Texas (Feb. 2, 2018) — Mayborn Museum Complex will host a reception featuring a meet-and-greet and book signing with authors and select artists on Tuesday, Feb. 6 at 2 p.m. in Mayborn Museum, 1300 S. University Parks Drive.

Andrew Sansom, a leading Texas conservationist, and William E. Reaves, an influential Texas art collector and historian, have teamed up to showcase some of the finest contemporary river art detailing the gorgeous traits of Texas landscapes.

The “Of Texas Rivers and Texas Art” exhibit uses contemporary representational art to pique visitors’ curiosity about the state’s water resources while creating meaningful opportunities to learn about how Texas rivers directly impact residents’ daily lives, industrial activity, the economy, recreation and wellness and agriculture.

Lee Jamison, who painted many of the murals in the Mayborn Museum, also will be in attendance.

"We are pleased to be the final destination of this topical exhibition that has been displayed throughout Texas including the State Capitol. Providing sustainable water resources is an important issue and challenge which we sought to address in this fall's Baylor Social Innovation Collaborative course, 'Water, River, and Community.' Of Texas Rivers and Texas Art helps us present those themes through beautiful Texas landscapes," said Charles Walter, director of the Mayborn Museum Complex.

The reception is included in the price of admission. Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for children (2 to 12 years old) and $7 for seniors (65+). Admission is free for all museum members and Baylor University students, faculty and staff. For more information, visit the Mayborn Museum website.
