Baylor Selected Again for Templeton Honor Roll

WACO, Texas - For the eighth consecutive year, Baylor University has been named to the John Templeton Foundation's Honor Roll for Character-Building Colleges.
"Effective character education encourages young people to develop the virtues, integrity and ideal of service so vital to our society," said Dr. John M. Templeton, Jr., president of the John Templeton Foundation. "The Honor Roll colleges and universities actively affirm and uphold character education initiatives essential to the mission of higher education-inspiring students to lead ethical and civic-minded lives."
The Templeton Foundation names to the Honor Roll approximately 100 four-year accredited undergraduate institutions. This year, 134 colleges and universities were named. The names of the 134 schools chosen for the 1997-98 Honor Roll are published in the 1997-98 Honor Roll for Character Building Colleges.
The John Templeton Foundation, established in 1987 by international investment manager Sir John Marks Templeton, is committed to activities including studies, award programs and publications urging the character development of young people in secondary schools, colleges and universities.
