Faculty Recital Oct. 6 to Present Russian Music

Two members of the Baylor University voice faculty-assistant professor Robin Fisher and associate professor Daniel Scott-will present a Russian song recital at 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, in Roxy Grove Hall. They will be assisted by John Cozza, assistant professor of piano and coordinator of accompanying.
Scott will open the program with "Susanin's Aria" from Mikhail Glinka's opera A Life for the Tsar. He will also sing Modest Mussorgsky's cycle "Songs and Dances of Death," which is comprised of four songs: "Lullaby," "Serenade," "Trepak" and "Commander-in-Chief."
During the second half of the recital, he will present "Aleko's Cavatina" from Sergei Rachmaninov's early opera Aleko and then a set of three songs by Tchaikovsky-"None But the Lonely Heart," "At the Ball" and "Don Juan's Serenade."
Fisher will open her portion of the program with four songs by Rachmaninov-"Twilight," "They Replied," "This Day I Remember" and "How Painful to Me." Following intermission, she will sing "The Tsarina's Aria" from Rimsky-Korsakov's opera The Golden Cockerel.
The program will conclude with a duet sung by Robin Fisher and Daniel Scott, a musical dialogue by Rachmaninov titled "Two Farewells."
Scott has been teaching at Baylor University since 1973. Fisher joined the Baylor music faculty in 1995.
