Baylor Professor Honored by Central Texas Ymca

Dr. Nancy Upton of Baylor University's Hankamer School of Business has been named a 1997 YMCA Pathfinder.
Pathfinders are women from the Waco-McLennan County area who have been recognized by the YMCA of Central Texas for their personal or professional achievements in a variety of fields. There are 17 winners in 16 categories. The women will be honored at the annual Pathfinders Banquet at 7 p.m., Monday, Nov. 3, in the Barfield Drawing Room of the Bill Daniel Student Center at Baylor.
Upton will be recognized in the area of Entrepreneurial Enterprises. A member of the Baylor faculty since 1983, she directed the John F. Baugh Center for Entrepreneurship for many years and is recognized as a leading authority in the field of entrepreneurship and family business. She was the founder and first director of Baylor's Institute for Family Business for 10 years and has received numerous honors for her innovative projects and research.
She holds the Ben H. Williams Professorship in Entrepreneurship and provides leadership to the Entrepreneurial Studies Program in the Hankamer School of Business.
The Texas House of Representatives recently passed a resolution honoring Upton for the "many significant contributions she has made as an educator." She also was recognized recently as the Entrepreneurship Educator of the Year by the U.S. Association of Small Business and Entrepreneurship, and last year the Southwestern Business Deans' Association selected her as the recipient of its award for Innovative Achievement in Curriculum Design and Program Development.
