WACO, Texas (Oct. 26, 2017) – Priscilla James, Baylor M.B.A. student from Houston, is a 2017 recipient of the Texas Business Hall of Fame (TBHF) scholarship. James will receive the scholarship during a luncheon ceremony on Wednesday, Nov. 1, at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas and will be recognized again during the Foundation’s Annual Induction Dinner that evening.

The scholarship, awarded to 35 business students across the state, gifts $15,000 toward their degrees. These students are recognized as “the best of the best” at 25 of at Texas’ leading institutions of higher learning.

“This award will assist me with my financial obligations and help me to attain my goal of producing events for nonprofits and business-as-mission companies (BAM),” James said. “It will also open doors for me to network with leaders and legends of business.”

James will graduate from Baylor in May 2018. She simultaneously earned her B.A. in Spanish and B.S. in biology in 2009 from the University of Houston. While James pursed her undergraduate degrees, she founded “Priscilla’s Joyful Events” to satiate her passion for planning and provide others with cost-effective event planning, coordinating and decorating.

She then earned her master's degree in health care administration in 2013 from Texas Southern University.

“My entrepreneurial spirit has inspired me to pursue an M.B.A. so that I may scale by business to offer my services to nonprofits,” James said. “Ultimately, nothing gives more pleasure than using my knowledge and talents to make others feel valued. I plan to purchase or build a venue to have the freedom to manage my assets with specialized methods.”

TBHF hosts an annual dinner to honor new inductees for their business and personal accomplishments. This year serves as the 35th annual dinner and offers inductees the opportunity to meet current TBHF legends, directors and scholarship recipients. During the dinner, video documentaries provide a closer look at the inductees and their roads to success.
