Baylor Theater Season to Open Sept. 2

The Department of Theater Arts at Baylor University opens its 1997-98 season on Tuesday, Sept. 2, with a production of Oleanna, directed by Patricia Cook, professor of theater arts. Curtain times for performances are 7:30 p.m. Sept. 2-6 and 2:30 p.m. Sept. 7 in the Mabee Theater in the Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Center on the Baylor campus.
Written by David Mamet in 1992, Oleanna focuses on the relationship between a student and her professor and explores various aspects of political correctness from gender relations to sexual harassment.
Other productions scheduled for the upcoming theater season include the musical Good News, Shakespeare's MacBeth, the regional premiere of The Difficulty Crossing a Field and, in cooperation with the Baylor School of Music, Die Fledermaus. The critically acclaimed play God's Country will be presented as a thesis production.
Season tickets for five productions are $32 or $28 with a Baylor ID. Single ticket prices are $8. Tickets for musicals are $10. Tickets may be purchased at the Baylor Theater Box Office in the Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Center.
