Baylor to Host Herbert H. Reynolds Academy May 25-30

WACO, Texas - Applications are being accepted for the Herbert H. Reynolds Academy, scheduled for Sunday through Friday, May 25-30, on the Baylor University campus.
Now in its 19th year, the summer school is sponsored by the Institute of Gerontological Studies at Baylor and is open to persons age 60 or older and their spouses. Participants do not have to be Baylor graduates or Baptists to attend.
This year's curriculum includes a variety of classes including basic aerodynamics, philosophy, estate planning and political science. Special lectures will cover topics from popular music in the 1940s to how root beer is made to the latest research on aging and women's health issues. For two days, private gerontological counseling will be available.
Academy participants also will tour the Waco mammoth site and the Baylor campus and will watch a demonstrations of blacksmithing and the university's renewable-fuel airplane. Ample time will be given for a number of recreational activities such as golf and bowling tournaments, aerobics and boomerang throwing.
Participants choose their own curriculum and schedules.
The fee for the academy is $349 for overnight guests and includes room, board and tuition. Day students will be charged $79. A $29 deposit is charged to all students.
