WACO, Texas (March 18, 2016) – The Waco Hippodrome will offer a free showing of “A Single Frame” at 7 p.m. Monday, March 21, as part of Movie Mondays at the Hippodrome.
“A Single Frame” was produced by Jeff Bowden, B.A. (History) ’82, and directed by fellow Baylor alumnus Brandon Dickerson, B.A. (English) ’95. Bowden’s inspiration for the film came in 2007 while on a trip to Dubrovnik, Croatia, where he encountered a photograph of a refugee boy taken during the war in Kosovo.
Driven by the image, Bowden set out to find the child in the photograph. The venture took him from Texas to Paris to the Balkans, where he worked with an experienced war-time fixer, Alexandra Boulat. The two worked together to weave the stories of the war in search for the boy. “A Single Frame” is an attempt to display the power of photography and the belief that every life is important.
“The story is really about the photograph,” Dickerson said. “It’s a catalyst for Jeff to encounter all these different people. He guides the viewer on this journey with him so you meet all these amazing characters. The film weaves an exploration of the impact of photography from both sides of the shutter.”
The movie series partnership between Baylor Student Activities and the Waco Hippodrome seeks to offer Baylor students and the Waco community an opportunity to view a variety of documentary and independent films that delve into important world topics.
