Effective Preachers to Lead Ministers Conference April 14-15

WACO, Texas -- Dr. Fred Craddock and Dr. Gardner Taylor, both selected among the 12 most effective preachers in the English-speaking world by Baylor University, will speak Monday and Tuesday, April 14-15, during the Baylor Ministers Conference.
Craddock will speak to Baylor students at 10 a.m. Monday, April 14, during Chapel-Forum and to ministers Monday and Tuesday during the conference. Taylor also will minister during the conference. The conference will be held in the First Baptist Church chapel.
Taylor, senior pastor emeritus of the Concord Baptist Church of Christ in Brooklyn, New York, served as pastor of the church from 1948-1990. The church operates a fully accredited elementary school, 120 bed nursing home, a federal credit union and a million dollar endowment fund for community improvement. Taylor has preached and lectured at churches and seminaries throughout the world as well as served for numerous religious denominations. Time magazine named Taylor the "dean of the nation's black preachers." Ebony magazine named him one of the greatest black preachers in American history.
Craddock serves as the Bandy Distinguished Professor of Preaching and New Testament, emeritus, in the Candler School of Theology at Emory University. He has earned national recognition as a distinguished author and lecturer. Craddock also has pastored churches in Tennessee and Oklahoma.
In February 1996, Baylor named 12 individuals as the most effective preachers in the English-speaking world, according to a worldwide survey. Included in the great preachers list are the Rev. Billy Graham and Dr. Charles Swindoll.
