Baylor Student Chosen to Receive Ups Scholarship

Scott Bertrand, a Baylor University freshman, was recently named the Baylor 1996-97 United Parcel Service Scholar. Baylor is one of 35 schools represented by the Texas Independent College Fund to receive scholarships from the UPS Foundation for a student award worth $2,750.
In 1996, Bertrand graduated valedictorian from Mayde Creek High School in Houston after posting a 1520 on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). He is a University Scholar and has earned a 4.0 Grade Point Average in his first semester at Baylor.
Outside of his coursework, Bertrand has been extensively involved in campus and community service activities, including student council, peer tutoring, National Honor Society and Texas Boys State. After completing his degree requirements, Bertrand said he intends to seek advanced degrees in religion and ultimately pursue a career in Christian ministry.
