Renowned Lecturer, Rabbi to Discuss Future of Jewish-Christian Relations

WACO, Texas (Jan. 29, 2016) – The Baylor Institute for Studies of Religion will host Rabbi Yitzchok Adlerstein for a lecture about Christianity and Judaism at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, in Paul W. Powell Chapel at Truett Seminary.
“We’re excited to be hosting Rabbi Adlerstein here at Baylor and are looking forward to what he has to say about the future of Jewish-Christian relations,” said Jeff Levin, Ph.D., University Professor of Epidemiology and Population Health and faculty member at the Baylor Institute for Studies of Religion. “There is so much good we can accomplish when we join forces, drawing on our common roots in pursuit of justice and in defense of our shared values. Rabbi Adlerstein is a revered international leader in human rights and interfaith cooperation, and it’s an honor for us to welcome him.”
Adlerstein, an Orthodox rabbi and a spokesman, teacher and writer on behalf of Orthodox Judaism, serves as the director of interfaith affairs for the Simon Wiesenthal Center, a global human rights organization. He holds the Sydney M. Irmas Adjunct Chair in Jewish Law and Ethics at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles.
Alderstein’s lecture will deal with the progression of relationship between Christians and Jews following the Holocaust, including the warm relationship formed between evangelicals and traditional Jews. He will present the reasons those groups in particular have been partnering in the global defense of persecuted Christians.
