April 3, 1997

The Armstrong-Browning Library at Baylor University will hold a birthday celebration in memory of poets Robert Browning and Elizabeth Barrett Browning from 3-6 p.m. Thursday, April 10, in the Hankamer Treasure Room. The event is free and open to the public.
The first part of the program will be a colloquy or a series of short papers titled The Brownings: Animals and the Natural World. Refreshments will be served in the Mills and Margaret Cox amphitheater accompanied by the Baylor Faculty Woodwind Quintet. There will be a short reading of Browning poetry set to music.
The Brownings actual birthdays are March 6 for Elizabeth Barrett and May 7 for Robert. This is the first year the celebrations will be held jointly.
"It is an opportunity to celebrate and enjoy these poets in an informal atmosphere," said Melissa Smith, office coordinator of the library.
