Baylor's Fiesta on the River Scheduled for April 3

March 27, 1997

The Baylor University Residence Hall Association, in conjunction with the Baylor Office of Residence Life, will hold the 10th annual Fiesta on the River celebration from 6-11 p.m. Thursday, April 3, along Waco Creek.
Fiesta booths will be set up along Waco Creek between the Steve Hudson Memorial Bear Plaza and the Baylor Book Store. Admission is free, but the various food and game booths will cost money. The fiesta will feature games, live entertainment by Cold Comfort for Change and Tumble Dry Low and several contests, including tortilla-throwing.
The Fiesta tradition began in 1988 and is patterned after San Antonio's century-old Fiesta. Campus organizations will sponsor booths that fit this theme, as well as a few from other cultures.
It is the largest spring project RHA sponsors. The event is geared toward residence hall students, off-campus students, Baylor faculty and staff and the Waco community.
In April of 1991, RHA won a collegiate award from the national residence hall association for Fiesta on the River, which was named the most outstanding campus program for the month.
Seven to nine students from each dormitory on campus act as representatives for their respective residence halls in RHA. The purpose of the organization is to provide programming in and between residence halls.
T-shirts will be on sale for $7 starting March 28 in all cafeterias and outside the Bill Daniel Student Center during lunch hours.
