WACO, Texas (Nov. 6, 2015) – The Texas Tribune, in partnership with Baylor University, will host a free, open-to-the-public, daylong Symposium on Higher Education from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Baylor Club in Waco. Whether it's rising tuition costs, campus carry or veterans' education benefits, higher education issues continue to generate passionate debate in Texas. Texans must find a way to balance varying interests on these and several other issues in the future. Symposium discussion topics will include higher education issues and the 84th legislative session, access, affordability and demographics change; the quest for higher education excellence; and how to solve the persistent problem of low completion rates. In addition to the panels, the event will feature a conversation with Evan Smith, The Texas Tribune's CEO and editor-in-chief, and Baylor President and Chancellor Ken Starr. Each discussion will be followed by an audience Q&A session. A complimentary light breakfast and lunch will be provided. The conversation will be livestreamed at https://livestream.com/texastribune/events/4465983, and the video will be available for viewing afterward. For media RSVP, contact Natalie Choate at nchoate@texastribune.org. General registration is open at texastribune.org/events.
