Baylor Yearbook Receives Excellence Award

March 24, 1997

The 1995 edition of the Baylor University yearbook the RoundUp received an Award of Excellence from Taylor Publishing Company and was featured in the company's publication The 1997Yearbook Yearbook, which showcases the best collegiate yearbooks in the country.
Jason Ranton, student media adviser for the yearbook and the campus newspaper, The Lariat, said that being recognized was an honor for his staff.
"We have been included in this publication a number of times before. This was the sesquicentennial book and it received numerous awards from the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association and the Southwestern Journalism Congress. Our book was recognized in 1996 as one of the top collegiate yearbooks in the country. It goes to show the excellence of the RoundUp and its dedicated staff."
With the award, Taylor Publishing Company recognized the top 10 percent of yearbook staffs for outstanding yearbook achievement. Each yearbook Taylor published between Oct. 2, 1995, and Oct. 1, 1996, was evaluated for excellence in cover design, theme and design, section design and overall effort.
Approximately 30 students work on the yearbook, which has been published since 1901. The editors of the 1995 edition "Breaking New Ground," were Steve Trollinger and Amy Baker.
