March 21, 1997

WACO, Texas -- Baylor University's Board of Regents today approved funding for infrastructure improvements which include renovations for Pat Neff Hall and residence hall wiring.
Regents approved financing tax exempt bonds for various future utility infrastructure projects.
Also approved were funds to continue wiring of residence halls, including part of Memorial, Brooks, Alexander, Kokernot, Martin and North Russell Residence Halls, a total of 718 rooms to be wired. Each room will have a computer network connection and telephone line, including cable connections.
This is the second phase of such a project originally started last year. All residence hall rooms should be completed by the summer of 1998.
Also, regents approved spending an additional $600,000 to renovate Pat Neff Hall, the university's central administration facility. The original budget of $595,000 for the first floor renovations of the building, approved in July of 1996, had to be refigured for additional improvements which will include suites for the University Counsel, Organizational Development, Internal Auditor and Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Complying with building codes, adding restrooms and disability features will bring to the total cost of the Pat Neff Hall renovations to $1,195,000.
