Baylor Professor Named Gerontology Fellow

Dr. Ben Dickerson, professor of sociology and director of the Institute of Gerontological Studies at Baylor University, recently achieved fellow status in the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education (AGHE).
Fellow status in AGHE recognizes outstanding leadership in gerontology and geriatrics education by established scholars at AGHE member institutions. Qualifications for the honor include outstanding achievements in teaching, scholarship, leadership in administration and funding of educational programs. Dickerson joins the charter class of lifetime fellows in gerontological education.
Dickerson joined the Baylor faculty in 1980. At that time, four students participated in the university's gerontological institute. Under Dickerson's leadership, 164 people have earned bachelor's or master's degrees in gerontology. Dickerson is a frequent speaker at health care and gerontology symposiums. He hosted the first Big 12 Health Care Symposium at Baylor in 1996.
