Truett Seminary Professor Urges Christians to “Walk through the Door” of Spiritual Opportunity

Dr. Joel Gregory delivers keynote address at Baptist World Congress in South Africa

WACO, Texas (July 31, 2015) — God is leading each person through a goal of opportunity for service, said Joel Gregory, Ph.D., professor of preaching at Baylor's Truett Theological Seminary, in a keynote address July 26 to conclude the 21st Baptist World Congress in Durban, South Africa.
Gregory called on the gathering of more than 3,500 Baptist Christians from 83 countries to commit to discovering that opportunity.
“The prayer of the individual should be, ‘God show me my door. God, open my door. God, give me the will to walk through my door,’” Gregory said.
He warned that opportunity often comes with opposition, but “we serve a Lord who turned the ultimate opposition into the ultimate opportunity” by paving the way to salvation with his death and resurrection.

Todd D. Still, Ph.D., Charles J. and Eleanor McLerran DeLancey Dean of Truett Seminary, said it was an honor to join believers from throughout the world to hear Gregory’s sermon, “Christ, the Door of Life: A Mega-Door for You.”
