February 21, 1997

As part of Founders' Day, students and faculty from Baylor University will place a wreath on the grave of university founder Judge R.E.B. Baylor during a ceremony at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor campus in Belton.
"In addition to emphasizing long-standing traditions at Baylor during traditions week, we wanted to start some new ones," said Gannon Sims, a Baylor sophomore who is helping to organize Traditions Week activities.
Members of the traditions week committee; student body officers; Dr. William Hillis, vice president of student life; Nancy Clines, assistant to Baylor President Robert B. Sloan Jr.; and other faculty and staff will travel by bus to the Mary Hardin-Baylor campus. Along the way, Robert Reid, retired Master Teacher and former chair of the history department, will tell stories about Baylor history and the university's founders. Reid also will speak at the graveside ceremony.
The Baylor delegation will depart for the Belton campus at 4 p.m. from the Wiethorn Visitors Center.
