WACO, Texas (June 18, 2015) – Baylor Theatre will present two productions this summer: “Tigers Be Still,” which will run June 18-21, and “Crimes of the Heart,” which will run June 25-28. Both productions will be staged in Theatre 11 at the Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Center.
“This summer we have two comedies that demonstrate how we use humor to survive even the darkest of times, and examine the most painful rites of passage,” said Stan Denman, Ph.D., chairman of theatre arts in the College of Arts & Sciences.
“’Tigers Be Still,’ centers around Sherry, an art therapist who is starting her first job as a middle school art teacher and part time art therapist for her principal's son,” said director Heidi Breeden. “Sherry is emerging from a deep depression, and the play follows her as she attempts to pull her sister, Grace; her patient, Zack and her boss, Joseph, out of their respective darkness. Although the content is heavy, the play is a comedy, and it’s very funny.”
“Crimes of the Heart,” directed by Laura Nicholas, is the story of three sisters who come together during a family crisis and learn the importance of sisterhood, love, hope, forgiveness and grace.
Tickets for each show cost $15, and combination tickets for both are on sale for $25. Tickets are available online at baylor.edu/theatre. Both shows will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays through Saturdays and 2 p.m. on Sundays. Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Center is located 60 Baylor Ave., Waco.
