Pianists From Vienna to Perform at Baylor Feb. 20

Wacoans will have the rare opportunity to hear a duo piano team from the Vienna Academy of Music perform on the Baylor University campus. At 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, in Roxy Grove Hall, pianists Elisabeth Eschwé and Thomas Kreuzberger will present "Schubert and His Time," a program of music for piano duet that celebrates the bicentennial of Franz Schubert (1797-1828).
These two artists-both natives of Vienna and now professors at Vienna's famous Academy-perform worldwide under the collective name of "Four Hands on the Piano." Frequent performers on European radio and television, they recently released a compact disc of works by Bach, Satie, Brahms, and Feldhofer.
Their concert at Baylor will feature three compositions by Schubert- "Marche militaire in E-flat major," "German Dance with Two Trios and Two Ländler," and the familiar "Fantasie in F minor."
Also on the program will be Beethoven's "Eight Variations on a Theme by Count Waldstein" and six of the "Hungarian Dances" by Johannes Brahms.
In keeping with the Schubert Bicentennial, there will be a recitation of letters from the early 19th century, including excerpts by Beethoven, Brahms, and others.
